A Star is Born

For this project, I worked with a singer Aarian Mehrabani and VR artist Rosie Summers to develop a performance system using motion tracking gloves. The gloves control parameters such as volume, panning, and reverb effects according to their position in space and the use of different hand gestures. The gloves also control the recording and playback of loops, allowing musical textures to be built up, while the VR artist "paints" this music in real time.

To achieve this, we used MiMu gloves, and their accompanying Glover software to map and calibrate the various parameters. Ableton live provides the audio processing.

The project was commissioned by theatre company leoe&hyde in collaboration with Sheffield University's Festival of the Mind.
